Our farm is a safe haven for Ireland’s only native honey bee, Apis mellifera mellifera, also called the Irish Black Bee.
 
To make our honey, the female worker bees foraged for nectar from many different flowers around Derryoober Bog Natural Heritage Area.
 
Through membership of the Native Irish Honey Bee Society (NIHBS) we help to protect our native honey bee.
